House Call Doctors continuing to service weather affected areas,
providing urgent after-hours medical care

As rains hamper Queensland in the wake of Cyclone Debbie, House Call Doctors will continue providing urgent medical care to communities when regular GP clinics are closed.

Residents are being urged to keep Emergency wards for emergencies only, and to phone House Call Doctor

on 13 55 66 if they need urgent medical care overnight or throughout the wet weekend.

“Our team of experienced doctors will continue supporting families throughout Queensland when unexpected medical situations arise after-hours,” House Call Doctor’s Chief Operating Officer, Craig Glover, said today.

House Call Doctor services will continue operating throughout Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Mackay, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.

Their phonelines open from 4.00 pm, and doctors are on the road from 6.00 pm every weeknight, from 12.00 noon on Saturdays and 24 hours on Sundays.

“Even in wet weather, our priority is keeping families safe and healthy,” Mr Glover said. “All House Call Doctors travel with a specially trained Chaperone, who can plan the safest route to each patient’s home.”

House Call Doctor works on a triage basis, meaning that requests to treat more vulnerable patients such as babies, children and the elderly, are prioritised first.

“Our trained chaperones and dispatch teams are equipped to deal with emerging weather situations, and our doctors will continue responding to urgent call-outs from families in rain affected areas,” Mr Glover said.

If your loved ones need urgent medical care and your regular GP is closed, House Call Doctor can visit your home directly, which saves your family a trip to Emergency in non-life threatening situations.
